Year-End Stock Market Closure, Caution on Trading Dates for Equity and Mixed Equity Funds

“Investors in domestic equity and mixed equity funds must submit redemption requests by Friday, December 22, to receive redemption payments this year.”

The Korea Financial Investment Association urged investors to be cautious as the Korea Exchange will close after trading on the 28th and reopen on January 2 next year (closed on December 29). Due to this, the redemption processing schedule for funds investing in domestic stocks will be postponed, so investors planning to use redemption payments within this year need to take note.

Typically, for domestic equity funds and mixed equity funds with an equity allocation ratio of 50% or more according to the collective investment regulations, if redemption requests are submitted before 3:30 PM on the 22nd, the redemption payment will be made on the 28th based on the announced net asset value on the 26th.

However, under the 'Late Trading' system, if the request is submitted after the cutoff time of 3:30 PM, the announced net asset value on the 27th will be applied, and payment will be made on the 28th.

The Korea Financial Investment Association also emphasized that for some funds, such as overseas investment funds, processing methods may differ according to individual collective investment regulations. Therefore, investors who need to withdraw redemption payments within the year should definitely contact their sales company in advance to confirm.
