Daedong Signs First Robot Contract with POSCO... Accelerating Robot Business Next Year

On-site Demonstration Model to be Supplied in July Next Year
Targeting Launch of Field Work Robot in 2025

Daedong (co-CEOs Kim Junsik and Won Yuhyun) announced on the 21st that it has signed a supply contract for a 'special environment mission robot' for collecting slag and improving working conditions at POSCO steelworks.

This robot will be jointly developed with POSCO by July 2024 and deployed at POSCO steelworks. This robot will replace the existing slag removal equipment at the steelworks, removing slag and waste within the workplace while collecting work environment data. Based on the collected data, Daedong plans to develop an autonomous mission robot that minimizes human operation by 2025.

Daedong will launch an autonomous transport follower robot capable of carrying up to 200 kg of materials based on autonomous driving functionality in the third quarter of next year. This robot assesses the work environment without separate operation, maintaining a certain distance from workers while avoiding obstacles and following them. It also autonomously moves to designated locations according to the worker's return command. It has completed real-use environment verification at an apple orchard in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do.

Additionally, Daedong plans to release agricultural robots such as multipurpose management robots for fieldwork and weeding robots by 2025. It also plans to conduct real-use environment verification for various hospital-required robots, including hospital logistics transport robots, smart chair robots, and patrol robots.

Gam Byeongwoo, head of Daedong's product planning division, said, "We will continuously secure core robot technologies and develop and launch differentiated robots that customers and the market desire in 2024."
