The ‘Mindol’ team, consisting of Kim Min-seok, Seo Ji-wan, and Lee Seung-min from Dong-A University’s Department of Computer Engineering (advised by Professor Park Young-jin), was honored with the grand prize following the first and second rounds of judging at the ‘2023 4th University Student Industry-Academia Idea Competition’ hosted by Busan City and Technopark.
The topic submitted by the ‘Mindol’ team was ‘Improvement of Busan City’s Urban Flood Integrated Information System.’
This idea proposed enhancing the existing urban flood integrated information system operated by Busan City by utilizing public data and the H3 hierarchical spatial data structure, with a particular focus on improving flood risk assessment, flood prediction, and navigation functions. This approach received high praise from the judging panel.
Team leader Kim Min-seok expressed, “We are grateful that our team’s idea was highly regarded among many ideas that can contribute to the development of Busan City. I plan to continue my studies in the graduate program of Dong-A University’s Department of Computer Engineering to conduct research that can contribute more technically to the region.”
The awards ceremony was held on the afternoon of the 20th at the Western Chosun Hotel in Haeundae-gu, Busan, with relevant officials in attendance.
