Dong-Eui University Graduate School's Lee Taehyun and Park Jisoo Receive Excellence Award at the Korea Medical Panel Academic Conference Paper Competition

Lee Taehyun, a master's student, and Park Jisoo, who completed the doctoral program in the Department of Health and Medical Sciences (majoring in Healthcare Management) at Dong-Eui University Graduate School (President Han Suhwan), received the Excellence Paper Award and a prize of 2 million KRW at the 15th Korea Health Panel Academic Conference Graduate Student Paper Competition held on the 15th at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul.

The team from Dong-Eui University's Department of Health and Medical Sciences presented the pure effect of smoking cessation on changes in mental health status under the theme "The Effect of Smoking Cessation on Mental Health: An Analysis Using Propensity Score Inverse Probability Weighting and Difference-in-Differences Methods."

Lee Taehyun, the lead author of the paper, said, "The passion and effort poured into the research, along with the support from the department professors, led to the honor of receiving this award. Through this Excellence Paper Award, I am even more delighted to confirm my pride in healthcare management and the possibilities for my career path."

Additionally, Professor Park Ilsu of the Healthcare Management Department, the advisor, stated, "Following the Seoul National University research team that received the Best Paper Award, it is very gratifying that Dong-Eui University students and the department's excellence have been recognized at a nationwide academic conference by receiving the Excellence Paper Award. We will continue our efforts to achieve even better results in the future."

The National Health Insurance Service and the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, which organized this competition, have been conducting the Korea Health Panel survey since 2008. They hold an academic conference every December where experts from various fields, graduate students, and researchers share high-quality research outcomes utilizing health panel data.
