On the 21st, the prosecution investigating allegations that false information reported during the last presidential election phase damaged President Yoon Seok-yeol's reputation launched a forced investigation into individuals who were active in the election campaign committee of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate.
The Special Investigation Team of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Team Leader Kang Baek-shin, Head of Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 1) sent prosecutors and investigators to the residence of Song Pyung-soo, former spokesperson of the campaign committee, to secure related materials on the charge of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act.
The prosecution is reported to have detected circumstances suggesting that Song was involved in the process when the internet media outlet Report Act reported the so-called 'fake Choi Jae-kyung recording' on March 1 last year.
During the presidential election, Song also served as a spokesperson for the party's internal organization called the 'Hwacheon Daeyu Construction Corruption Truth-finding Task Force (TF),' which was created to respond to the Daejang-dong scandal. After the election, he worked in the Democratic Party's Legal Committee.
