The American golf media outlet Golf Channel reported on the 20th (local time) that "analyzing the driving distance of the 2022/2023 PGA Tour season, McIlroy ranked first with an average of 326.3 yards." This is McIlroy's first time ranking first in this category in five years since 2018. At that time, his average driving distance was 319.7 yards. He leveraged his powerful long drives to secure his second win of the PGA Tour season and the 24th win of his career.


Second in driving distance was Peter Kuest (USA), with an average of 321.7 yards. Third place went to Brandon Matthews (321.3 yards), fourth to Cameron Champ (317.9 yards, both USA), and fifth to Nicolai Hojgaard (317.7 yards, Denmark). Korean player An Byeong-hun was the only one to enter the 'Top 10 in Driving Distance,' ranking eighth with an average of 315.6 yards.
