Delivered to 440 Vulnerable Households Including Basic Livelihood Recipients and Elderly Living Alone
Provided Winter Clothing, Hot Packs, Thermal Socks, Hand Warmers, and More Amid Arctic Cold Wave
Encouraged Indoor Exercise and Checking Perceived Temperature for a Healthy Winter
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is launching support for cold-weather supplies targeting elderly residents vulnerable to cold waves.
The Arctic cold wave, caused by abnormal high temperatures in the Arctic, is intensifying. To prepare for winter cold wave damage and protect vulnerable groups, the district has been providing cold-weather clothing to 240 low-income elderly households in the area since the 15th.
Additionally, from the 20th, 200 households will receive hot packs, thermal socks, and hand warmers.
This support targets basic livelihood security recipients, elderly living alone, and senior citizens who have difficulty living in cold winter conditions.
Along with the cold-weather supplies, the recipient households will be given guidelines on how to stay safe and warm during winter. To maintain a healthy winter, it is necessary to ▲ engage in light indoor exercise ▲ consume adequate fluids and balanced nutrition ▲ check the perceived temperature before going outside ▲ maintain an appropriate indoor temperature.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “This winter is expected to continue with severe cold waves due to the climate crisis, so I hope all residents familiarize themselves with cold wave safety guidelines.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that neighbors in need can spend a healthy and safe winter through various customized support projects.”
