The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the 20th that it held a 'Meeting with Minister Lee Young of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' at the SME DMC Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
This event was virtually the last meeting with Minister Lee alongside the Korea Federation of SMEs. Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs, on behalf of the SME sector, presented a plaque of appreciation to Minister Lee for his efforts over one and a half years as Minister of SMEs and Startups in advancing the development of small and medium enterprises. About 40 members of the Federation's executive board also attended the event.
SME representatives cited Minister Lee’s key achievements as the introduction and on-site establishment of the payment linkage system for supply prices, and boosting SME morale through holding the SME Convention at the Yongsan Presidential Office for two consecutive years. They also expressed gratitude for his strong interest in labor issues such as the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the 52-hour workweek system, and for actively conveying the SME sector’s opinions to related ministries and the National Assembly.
Chairman Kim said, “We express our gratitude to Minister Lee for proposing future strategies for SMEs during this great transition and leading the era of SMEs growing together,” adding, “Please continue to work hard until your last day in office to ensure that SME-related issues currently pending in the National Assembly, such as the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Small and Medium Enterprise Cooperatives Act, pass smoothly within this year.”
