This certification is a system that grants certification through evaluation to companies and public institutions that exemplary operate family-friendly systems in accordance with the ‘Act on the Promotion of Creating Family-Friendly Social Environments.’
Kolon Global obtained the family-friendly company certification after starting document screening in June and undergoing an on-site inspection in September. Certified family-friendly companies receive benefits such as additional points when participating in support projects by central government ministries and local governments, and employees and their families of certified companies can enjoy various discount benefits provided by local governments.
The Kolon Group has shown a strong commitment to fostering and supporting female talent since the early 2000s. Starting with the industry’s first policy in 2003 to mandate the hiring of 30% female new college graduate recruits, the group has continued various efforts such as implementing female mentoring (2007), opening an in-house daycare center (2010), and strengthening and establishing maternal protection systems (2013).
Furthermore, through the implementation of various work-family balance systems, the company supports employees in harmoniously balancing family and work life. Representative examples include mandatory shortened working hours during pregnancy with an extended period (legal standard plus an additional 4 weeks), and the introduction of paid leave for male employees’ fetal checkups, operating systems that exceed legal standards. The company also implements various family-friendly policies considering employees’ life cycles, such as support for infertility treatments, childcare leave for children’s school entrance, and spouse medical checkup support.
In addition, Kolon Global supports employees’ psychological stability through an expert counseling system. The company is also striving to create a flexible working environment and spread a family-friendly organizational culture by introducing systems such as half-day leave and birthday leave without deducting annual leave.
A Kolon Global official stated, “Rather than focusing solely on performance, we expect that achievements derived from the harmony of individual and family happiness will exert stronger and more sustainable power,” adding, “We will continue to actively implement more detailed and effective family-friendly systems to create an organizational culture where all members can maintain a balance between work and family and work healthily and happily.”
