'Hyup-eop Huimang Jutaek 1ho Saeop' Selected as an Excellent Case
On the 20th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award (Excellence Award) at the '3rd Korea Housing Welfare Expo' held on the 19th.
Hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), this event is conducted nationwide targeting 229 basic local governments to manage performance and identify support needs in the housing welfare sector. This year, 10 local governments were commended based on quantitative and qualitative evaluations of their efforts such as establishing support systems and project achievements to promote housing welfare.
Icheon City was highly evaluated for its efforts to stabilize citizens' housing and improve housing conditions for vulnerable groups, including the opening of the Housing Welfare Center in April, housing environment improvement projects, housing benefit support, and operation of a counseling center for victims of jeonse fraud. The city explained that excellent cases of regional specialization, such as the operation of a housing welfare promotion center for accompaniment with housing vulnerable groups and the 'Collaboration Hope Housing No. 1 Project,' were also reasons for its selection as an outstanding institution.
The 'Collaboration Hope Housing No. 1 Project,' conducted for the first time this year by the city, is a project led by the Icheon Housing Welfare Center to assist beneficiaries whose repair scope is too broad to be handled solely by the Hope Housing Council, which is an existing house repair talent donation project. The center signed business agreements with seven organizations in the city, sharing budgets, manpower, and supplies to provide support.
Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, said, "Taking this award as an opportunity, we will do our best institutionally and administratively to support the difficulties of vulnerable housing groups in the blind spots of housing welfare without turning a blind eye."
