On the 20th, Gyeongbuk Province signed a business agreement with Alibaba.com, a global leading B2B platform, at the provincial government’s K-Chang to promote export-import and air logistics activation for local companies.

Alibaba.com, established in 1999, is a core service of the Alibaba Group and a global B2B platform supporting small and medium-sized enterprises worldwide.

It has over 300 million registered buyers from more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, 34 million active buyers annually, and more than 200 million product listings. Forbes magazine has selected it as the ‘World’s Best B2B Site’ for eight consecutive years.

Through this agreement, Gyeongbuk Province and Alibaba.com will discuss air cargo, logistics, and various related policies, and mutually cooperate to provide services such as store entry consultations, training, regular visits, and connections with global buyers for Alibaba.com members in the province, as well as support for local export companies’ store entry and overseas market development on Alibaba.com.

Many companies in the global manufacturing and wholesale sectors already utilize B2B e-commerce, and the B2B e-commerce market is 2.2 times larger than the B2C market.

With this agreement, it is expected that excellent small and medium-sized enterprises in the province will meet tens of millions of overseas buyers through Alibaba.com and expand globally.

Alibaba.com does not charge deposits or transaction fees besides the annual membership fee, allowing small and medium-sized enterprises to discover global buyers at low cost, and it offers the advantage of 365-day continuous promotion online.

Gyeongbuk Province plans to concretize measures to introduce and develop a global air logistics system in the province by discussing various policies related to air cargo and logistics with Alibaba.com through this agreement.

On the 11th, at the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Airport International Logistics Forum, Gyeongbuk Province also signed a business agreement with Lazada, a Southeast Asian subsidiary of the Alibaba Group, and continues to cooperate with the Alibaba Group while striving to attract logistics centers such as GDC.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongbuk Province said, “I am very pleased and honored to sign a business agreement with Alibaba.com, a global leading B2B platform. I hope that Gyeongsangbuk-do’s excellent small and medium-sized enterprises will meet buyers from all over the world and expand through Alibaba.com.” He added, “Once Gyeongbuk’s air logistics infrastructure is established and our companies’ exports are activated, it will lead to increased cargo volume, expansion of air routes, and the activation of airports, creating a virtuous cycle.”
