Dobong-gu Installs 153 Basic Number Plates Along Walking and Bicycle Paths by Jungnangcheon and Other Rivers

Dobong-gu has taken proactive measures to eliminate address blind spots.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has newly installed 153 basic number plates along riverside walking trails and bicycle paths frequently used by residents to ensure their safety.

Basic numbers are assigned at regular intervals along road sections to indicate the location of each point, providing accurate location information even when there are no buildings nearby.

While locations can be identified by building number plates in areas with buildings and by national point number plates in mountainous regions, riverside walking trails and bicycle paths lack specific buildings to verify exact locations, making it difficult to determine positions during emergencies.

Accordingly, Dobong-gu installed basic number plates at regular intervals along riverside walking trails and bicycle paths so that anyone can easily confirm their location information.

The walking trails and bicycle paths with installed basic number plates include four sections: Jungnangcheon Bicycle Path, Uicheon Bicycle Path, Banghakcheon Bicycle Path, and Dobongcheon Bicycle Path. A total of 153 basic number plates were installed at 100-meter intervals over 14.29 km.

The location information of the basic number plates can be checked on the address information website. In emergencies, simply scanning the QR code on the basic number plate with a smartphone camera automatically inputs the caller’s location into the rescue request message, enabling accurate and prompt rescue requests to the police or fire station.

An official from the district stated, “We expect that quick response through accurate location confirmation by the police and fire stations during emergencies will protect residents’ safety and lives,” adding, “We will continue to expand the installation of various address information facilities such as national point number plates and basic number plates to eliminate address blind spots.”
