Earlier, at around 1 p.m. the previous day, a man in his 50s, Mr. B, was also found dead about 500 meters from where Mr. A was discovered.
They had gone hiking on the 16th and lost contact, leading to a missing person report filed with the police that evening. The police confirmed through closed-circuit television (CCTV) inquiries that they had been at a parking lot in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, at around 6:10 a.m. on the day they went missing, and have been conducting searches in the area.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning other members of the mountaineering club.
