Sancheong-gun to Implement Herbal Production Infrastructure Projects Including Specialized Complex Development Next Year

Herbal Medicine Production Infrastructure Project Applications Open Until the 29th

Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is taking steps to strengthen the foundation for medicinal herb production, which serves as the cornerstone of the traditional Korean herbal medicine industry.


On the 20th, Sancheong-gun announced that it will implement the "2024 Medicinal Herb Production Infrastructure Development Project."


The Medicinal Herb Production Infrastructure Development Project focuses on intensively cultivating Sancheong-gun's strategic medicinal herbs and supporting the stable cultivation of other medicinal crops besides the strategic herbs.


The project mainly consists of "Support for Stable Production of Traditional Korean Medicinal Herbs" and "Creation of Strategic Medicinal Herb Specialized Complexes."

The Support for Stable Production of Traditional Korean Medicinal Herbs project provides subsidies and supplies necessary seeds (rhizomes, seedlings) and covering agricultural materials for cultivating medicinal crops, excluding the four strategic herb items.


The Strategic Medicinal Herb Specialized Complex Creation project aims to develop four items?balloon flower (Doraji), ginger, safflower, and Polygonatum (Choseokjam)?as Sancheong-gun's strategic medicinal herbs, which are easy to process and develop into products.


Applicants must be farmers or medicinal herb producers residing in Sancheong-gun who are actively engaged in farming and have the capacity to bear part of the costs and the enthusiasm to carry out the project.


Applications can be submitted at the town and township offices until the 29th, and required documents include the application form for each project, agricultural management registration confirmation, and other supporting documents.


However, each farm can apply for up to two items only.


A county official stated, "This project was initiated to establish a foundation for medicinal herb production, which is fundamental to the traditional Korean anti-aging industry, and to support stable production by cultivating farmers. We hope for active interest and participation from local medicinal crop farmers."
