The '2023 4th Term New Media Members Closing Ceremony' was successfully concluded.
Busan City held the '4th Term New Media Members Closing Ceremony' on the evening of the 18th at 7 PM in the City Hall's main conference room.
The New Media Members, a citizen reporter group, consisted of a total of 120 members this year, conducting on-site reporting activities on various topics such as Busan City's administration, culture, tourism, and travel.
The closing ceremony was divided into two parts. The first part included congratulatory speeches, awards for outstanding members, and the presentation of activity certificates, while the second part consisted of various events for activity guidance and communication.
On this day, the mayor's commendation was awarded to five outstanding members, and activity certificates were given to all 120 New Media Members.
The event, held at the end of the year, was warmly attended by the families, friends, and couples of the New Media Members, creating a cozy atmosphere for communication in line with the year-end mood.
Especially since the New Media Members achieved great results this year, the attendees celebrated from start to finish in a friendly atmosphere despite it being the last event of the year.
The 4th Term New Media Members, who began their activities in March, covered not only Busan City's future vision and administration but also various information such as culture and tourism, producing a total of about 1,000 pieces of content.
Among the approximately 1,000 pieces of content they created, about 400 entered the top 10 in Naver View search rankings, playing a significant role in promoting Busan City's administration and showcasing the city's charm.
In particular, they provided articles tailored to citizens' perspectives to help easily understand major Busan City policies such as the '15-Minute City Vision Tour' and 'Busan, a City Easy to Speak English.'
Park Hyun-jun, a New Media Member active as a blogger, provided an article titled 'Busan, a City Easy to Speak English: Cafe With UN Non-Summit,' enabling citizens to easily understand the 'Busan, a City Easy to Speak English' policy.
He covered the site all day and interviewed people to promote this policy, and thanks to his passionate reporting, the article has remained in the top 10 of blog view searches for over seven months as of December.
Moreover, the activities of the New Media Members extended beyond Korea to overseas, widely promoting the attractive city of Busan.
One of the popular promotional contents on Busan City's official social media services (SNS), 'Day and Night,' showcases Busan's natural environment and city nightscapes, spreading the city's beauty worldwide.
New Media Member Kim Byung-hyun personally visited sites for drone filming and editing to produce this content. The 'Uam-dong Urban Forest' episode he participated in achieved 3 million views, and the 'Hocheon Village' episode reached 2 million views, yielding excellent results.
The city's first attempt this year to open overseas social media accounts was also successfully achieved through the voluntary participation of foreign New Media Members who love Busan.
Additionally, foreign New Media Members actively participated in various large-scale events held in Busan, promoting the city to people worldwide.
In particular, during the 'Busan World Citizens Day' event, foreign New Media Members voluntarily joined the Busan City booth and actively promoted it to visitors, resulting in over 1,000 new subscribers on the day and significant success.
The city also collaborated with the 4th Term New Media Members to work towards creating a green smart city.
Throughout the year, the city and New Media Members collected used banners consumed during events such as 'Members Day' and transformed them into eco-bags and tumbler bags, participating in social value management (ESG) practices.
Na Yoon-bin, spokesperson for Busan City, expressed, “We thank all New Media Members for vividly delivering various news about Busan City to citizens throughout the year.” She added, “Although the New Media Members' activities have ended, I hope that as citizens of Busan, they will continue to widely share the city's changes and take the lead in enhancing Busan's brand value.”
