Coinone Updates Web and App Features to Enhance Security

Domestic virtual asset exchange Coinone announced on the 19th that it has updated its web and application features to enhance customer personal security.

This is to eliminate security gaps caused by the termination of existing services such as the Coinone PASS app and KakaoPay simple authentication, while improving convenience.

Coinone recently added phone number change and account lock security features to its web and app. As the security functions and safety of the exchange app have been strengthened, the security authentication functions previously provided by the PASS app have been integrated into the trading service. The Coinone PASS app was discontinued on the 4th.

If the phone number has been changed, users can immediately update their information by completing identity verification in the information change tab of the My Page on Coinone’s web or app. Also, if account information has been exposed externally, users can immediately protect their account by using the account lock feature. Updating the Coinone app to version 4.2.0 or higher enables the use of these added security features.

With the upcoming termination of the KakaoPay simple authentication service, which was provided as an additional channel authentication method, scheduled for the 28th, Coinone newly introduced the KakaoTalk simple authentication service on the 14th. By registering the KakaoTalk certificate in the additional channel authentication tab on Coinone’s web and app, users can authenticate via the KakaoTalk app without separate login when additional authentication is required. Along with the existing Naver simple authentication, users can choose their preferred method to proceed with additional channel authentication.

Cha Myung-hoon, CEO of Coinone, stated, "As smishing and phishing attempts to access customer accounts for malicious purposes are increasing, strengthening individual security is essential," adding, "We will continue to introduce security features that allow customers to use Coinone services conveniently and safely."
