Expanding from university students to youth aged 19-29, recruiting a total of 80 people by the 21st of this month... From January next year, supporting administrative and welfare tasks at district offices and community centers for about a month, discovering life-centered policies
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) is operating the '2024 First Half Youth Administrative Experience Group' to allow young people in their 20s with limited social experience to experience district administration and welfare work firsthand.
The 'Youth Administrative Experience Group' is a continuous project of the 'University Student Administrative Experience Group' that the district has conducted annually. The participation target, previously limited to university students, has been expanded for the first time among Seoul's autonomous districts to include youth aged 19 to 29. This is significant in that it allows young people to experience administration in advance and discover various policy ideas without discrimination based on educational background.
Seongdong-gu is recruiting a total of 80 participants, and anyone aged 19 to 29 residing in Seongdong-gu as of the announcement date (December 15) can apply. However, those who participated in the university student administrative experience group during the 2023 winter or summer vacation are excluded. Interested applicants can apply online through the Seongdong-gu Office website by the 21st of this month.
Participants will be selected through a random computerized draw, and once finally selected, they will be assigned to the district office, health center, community service centers, district libraries, and other locations. The selected experience group will engage in administrative and welfare support tasks and activities to discover life-centered policies for about a month from January 8 to February 6, 2024. The salary will be up to 1.59 million KRW based on the 2024 Seongdong-gu living wage. For more details, please contact the Autonomous Administration Division of Seongdong-gu Office.
Seongdong-gu operates the university student administrative experience group annually and managed a total of 160 participants last year. Notably, the idea to connect the university student volunteer group for abandoned dogs with elderly households needing help raising companion dogs was actually reflected in policy. The ‘Intersection Care Project for the Elderly and Companion Animals,’ which provides dog walking, bathing, and other pet care volunteer services, received positive responses from residents.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "I hope this will be a great opportunity for local youth to experience various administrative sites of the district, deepen their understanding and interest in district administration, and directly propose and share ideas that meet the perspectives of young people."
