General Task Support 'DS Assistant'
"Process and Design Search Available"
Samsung Electronics has introduced its own generative artificial intelligence (AI) within the company to assist employees in writing emails and summarizing documents.
According to industry sources on the 18th, Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions (DS) division announced that it will implement generative AI by business unit starting from this day. The Device Experiences (DX) division has also been gradually introducing its self-developed generative AI called the 'Gauss Portal' since last week.
The in-house generative AI for the DS division is named 'DS Assistant,' and unlike the DX division's 'Gauss Portal,' it is known to be a separately built system considering the characteristics of the semiconductor business in the DS division.
Previously, Samsung Electronics had promoted the introduction of its own generative AI in response to employees' demands for translation and document summarization, amid security concerns raised by the increased use of external generative AI such as ChatGPT.
Last month, Samsung Research unveiled its self-developed generative AI model, 'Samsung Gauss,' for the first time. Samsung Gauss is composed of three models based on machine learning technology: a language model that assists with email writing and document summarization, a code model that generates code, and an image model that creates photos or drawings.
Samsung Electronics plans to utilize Samsung Gauss to enhance employee work productivity and gradually embed the generative AI models into products such as smartphones and laptops to provide new user experiences.
