Busan Gijang-gun County Governor Jeong Jong-bok conducted an on-site inspection of odor-emitting facilities by visiting waste disposal companies in the area on the 15th.
Jung Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang-gun, is conducting on-site inspections of waste disposal companies in the area to resolve odor complaints.
The visit targeted four business sites designated and announced as odor-emitting facilities within the jurisdiction. It was carried out to minimize odor generation and resolve residents' complaints through a thorough inspection of the management status of waste disposal and odor treatment facilities.
The on-site inspection involved Governor Jeong Jong-bok, the Director of the Economic and Industrial Bureau, the Head of the Environmental Hygiene Division, the Head of the Cleaning Resources Division, and about 10 related officials. They received reports on the entire process and facility status within the business sites and conducted a detailed inspection of the waste disposal process and odor reduction facilities.
In particular, Governor Jeong urged the companies to thoroughly manage odor prevention facilities and actively strive to reduce odors, as complaints from nearby residents about odors generated during the operation of these facilities have been continuously reported.
Governor Jeong Jong-bok stated, “I ask companies to make every effort to prevent odors so that they can coexist with local residents without causing harm.” He added, “The county is also making multifaceted efforts, including devising comprehensive measures against waste, odors, and fine dust, which have recently become social issues. Going forward, we will prioritize environmental issues such as odors and fine dust and actively work to resolve residents' odor complaints and improve living conditions.”
