Gyeonggi-do Reports 5 Cold-Related Illnesses and 19 Burst Pipe Cases Amid Third Day of Cold Wave Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Due to the cold wave continuing for three days, a total of 19 pipe burst incidents were reported in the Gyeonggi area. Additionally, 5 cases of cold-related illnesses occurred.


Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that since the cold wave began last weekend, 5 cold-related illness cases have been reported within the province, along with a total of 19 pipe burst reports.


For example, on the 16th, one hypothermia patient was reported in Goyang City. From the issuance of the cold wave advisory on the 16th until 6 a.m. that day, there were 19 reported pipe burst damages, including 3 water pipes and 16 meters.


By region, there were 4 cases in Gimpo, 3 cases (water pipes) in Pocheon, 3 in Dongducheon, 2 each in Yangju, Hwaseong, and Icheon, and 1 each in Gwangju, Yongin, and Gunpo.


Separately, around midnight on the same day, power and heating supply were cut off in 4 out of 8 apartment buildings in Dongcheon-dong, Suji-gu, Yongin City, causing inconvenience to about 500 households.


A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "The cold wave is expected to start again this Thursday and continue through the weekend," adding, "Taking insulation measures such as wrapping water pipes or meters with old clothes and immediately contacting the respective city or county office in case of pipe burst incidents can help receive assistance."
