Hyundai Everdigm Enters Special Disaster Response Equipment Business for Power Plants

Hyundai Everdigm, a specialized industrial machinery and firefighting vehicle company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, announced on the 18th that it is entering the special disaster response equipment business for power plants.

Regarding this business, Hyundai Everdigm recently signed a supply contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power for special disaster response equipment for power plants. This equipment draws large volumes of firefighting water from nearby intake reservoirs to supply cooling water to the power plants in the event of an accident.

Under this contract, Hyundai Everdigm plans to supply the self-developed "accident mitigation purpose disaster response equipment" to power plants operated by KHNP by the end of next year. The contract is valued at 76.26 billion KRW, which is 20.3% of Hyundai Everdigm’s sales last year (374.4 billion KRW). This is the largest contract in Hyundai Everdigm’s history since its founding.

Hyundai Everdigm developed a power plant-specialized firefighting solution by integrating technologies from various fields, including firefighting vehicle technology as well as construction machinery technologies such as pump cars and mobile generator-mounted vehicles. Additionally, to ensure successful project execution, about 10% of all employees (560 people), or 50 employees, have been assigned to a dedicated task force (TF) team, demonstrating company-wide efforts.

Hyundai Everdigm plans to further develop various disaster response and firefighting safety machinery and equipment. Through this, it aims to nurture the special disaster response equipment business as a next-generation new growth business following its existing firefighting vehicle and industrial machinery businesses. Hyundai Everdigm expects to grow this into a core business with annual sales exceeding 100 billion KRW. Furthermore, it plans to actively consider overseas business expansion by leveraging its global network of 150 branches in 90 countries.

A representative from Hyundai G.F. Holdings, the holding company of Hyundai Department Store Group, said, “With over 20 years of accumulated know-how in firefighting industry operations and differentiated technology, we have diversified our business portfolio to include disaster response equipment for power plants. Going forward, we will contribute to enhancing crisis response capabilities in Korea’s industrial sites while actively pursuing global market expansion.”
