New Public and Private Childcare Center Opens in Godeok Gangil District, Gangdong-gu

16 New Gurip Daycare Centers to Be Established by 2025 to Reduce Childcare Burden for Residents

Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced that the public daycare center ‘Gurip Kkumirang Daycare Center,’ a national and public daycare facility, held its opening ceremony on the 14th in Block 5 of the Godeok Gangil Public Housing Complex in Gangil-dong (Hillstate Gangil Lishuville), where demand for childcare has increased due to the move-in of new apartment residents.

Gurip Kkumirang Daycare Center, which began welcoming children from December 1, is equipped with childcare rooms, playrooms, and teacher’s rooms capable of caring for 65 infants and toddlers aged 0 to 5 years old. To ensure that the newly opened daycare center provides a safe and comfortable childcare environment, the district signed a free lease agreement with the construction company Hyundai Engineering & Construction in October, carried out facility remodeling, and supported teaching materials and supplies.

Including the newly opened Gurip Kkumirang Daycare Center, a total of 88 national and public daycare centers are currently operating in Gangdong-gu. The district plans to establish 16 new national and public daycare centers over the next two years, expanding the total to 104 centers by 2025. Through this, Gangdong-gu aims to increase the public childcare utilization rate (the ratio of children attending national, social welfare corporation, and workplace daycare centers to the total number of children using childcare) from 52% in 2023 to over 59% by 2025.

We will strive to create an environment where parents can entrust their children with peace of mind.”
