Supply of 350 Elderly Welfare Housing Units Including Rental Housing
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 18th that through a project proposal contest, a total of four locations (350 units) including Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk, Buan-gun, Jeonbuk, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, and Hanam-si, Gyeonggi have been selected as the second project sites for 'Senior Welfare Housing' in 2023.
Senior Welfare Housing is a project that creates rental housing with barrier-free design and social welfare facilities together to ensure housing stability for homeless seniors. Following the contest in the first half of this year, a total of 1,060 units were selected through this second half contest.
The selection of this project site was the result of comprehensive review by on-site inspections and an evaluation committee based on proposals from local governments and public housing developers regarding rental housing scale, project cost-sharing plans, and social welfare facility installation and operation plans. Two local government proposed districts and two Korea Land and Housing Corporation proposed districts were selected.
The selected local governments will negotiate specific matters such as project cost-sharing with the joint project implementer (Korea Land and Housing Corporation), and then proceed with project promotion procedures such as approval of housing construction project plans.
Kim Kwang-rim, Director of the Public Housing Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "In preparation for entering a super-aged society, the four selected locations are expected to be utilized as senior housing welfare platforms that comprehensively support housing and welfare within the local community."
