Dobong-gu's registered cultural heritage site, Gansong Old House (Jeon Hyeongpil House in Banghak-dong), has been selected as an excellent project for utilizing local cultural heritage in 2023.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that at the 'Local Cultural Heritage Utilization Excellent Project Awards Ceremony' hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration on the 14th, Dobong-gu's vivid cultural heritage project, "Munhwaboguk (文化保國), Walking Together on Gansong's Path," was selected as an excellent project and received the Cultural Heritage Administration Commissioner Award.
The Cultural Heritage Administration implements the 'Local Cultural Heritage Utilization Project' every year to rediscover the value and meaning of cultural heritage and develop new cultural content, selecting excellent projects annually.
This year, about 410 projects were carried out, among which 11 vivid cultural heritage projects, 7 hyanggyo and seowon projects, 6 cultural heritage night tours, 3 traditional mountain temples, and 4 old houses and clan houses were selected as excellent utilization projects.
The district has been conducting and maintaining the project "Munhwaboguk (文化保國), Walking Together on Gansong's Path" since 2018 as part of the vivid cultural heritage contest project to widely promote the will of Gansong Jeon Hyeongpil, who built the Gansong Old House, and to publicize the registered cultural heritage.
The Gansong Old House (Jeon Hyeongpil House in Banghak-dong) is the former home of the great man Gansong Jeon Hyeongpil, who used his own funds to preserve Korea's cultural heritage that was at risk of being indiscriminately taken out during the Japanese colonial period, and it was designated as a registered cultural heritage site in 2012.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "I am pleased that our efforts to help more residents know and enjoy our district's cultural heritage have been recognized through this excellent project selection," and added, "We will continue to prepare better programs so that residents and the public can enjoy local cultural heritage."
