Construction Started with Aim to Open in December Next Year

Singer Sean is building a specialized nursing hospital (tentatively named the Lugehrig Nursing Hospital) for patients with Lou Gehrig's disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). This specialized nursing hospital exclusively for Lou Gehrig's patients is the first of its kind nationwide.

According to YG Entertainment on the 16th, the Seungil Hope Foundation, co-led by Sean, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Lugehrig Nursing Hospital on the 13th in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province.

This is the fruition of 14 years since establishing the Seungil Hope Foundation in 2011 together with former basketball coach Park Seung-il, who suffers from Lou Gehrig's disease.

Sean has actively conducted various campaigns and challenges to build the hospital. Just this year, he participated in events such as the '2023 Chuncheon Marathon,' '2023 Miracle365 Ice Bucket Challenge Run,' and the 'Tongyeong Triathlon,' raising 550 million KRW in donations.

The Lugehrig Nursing Hospital will provide customized medical and care services for Lou Gehrig's patients. It aims to open in December next year and will be equipped with approximately 76 beds and rehabilitation facilities.

Sean stated, "For 14 years, I have worked hard to build the nation's first Lugehrig Nursing Hospital. It has not been an easy path, but thanks to the promise with CEO Park Seung-il and the support of many people, we have not given up on this dream and have been able to take a step closer to the dreams of many Lou Gehrig patients and their families."

He continued, "Now, the Lugehrig Nursing Hospital has become not just one person's dream but a dream for all of us. I look forward to its completion and will steadily lay each brick step by step. I am grateful to everyone who has joined this long journey from the Ice Bucket Challenge to this very moment."

In addition, Sean spreads positive influence through activities such as improving housing for descendants of independence activists, donating proceeds from photo shoots, supporting children domestically and abroad, and volunteering for briquette delivery. The total amount he has donated so far reaches 5.7 billion KRW.
