Ulsan's Ulju-gun held an opening ceremony on the 16th to commemorate the official opening of the Junk Art special exhibition "Ganjeolgot Imagination Space" created at Ganjeolgot.

Ulju-gun Opens 'Ganjeolgot Imagination Space,' the World's Largest 18m Junk Art Sculpture The 18-meter-tall world's largest 'Solarbot' installed at Ganjeolgot Park in Seosaeng-myeon, Ulju-gun.

Organized by the Seosaeng-myeon Residents' Association, this event was prepared to raise interest in the Junk Art special exhibition along with the full-scale operation of the Ganjeolgot Imagination Space.

At the opening ceremony, various experiential events and performances were held, including busking performances, pungmulnori (traditional Korean percussion music), singer performances, balloon art, and free Polaroid photo shoots with Ganjeolgot Imagination Space as the background, and souvenirs were also provided.

Ganjeolgot Imagination Space, created as a new attraction at Ganjeolgot in Ulju-gun, known as the sunrise spot where the sun rises first in Korea, exhibits 123 Junk Art works across five themes related to Ulju-gun, including the world's largest 18-meter Junk Art sculpture.

The themes are composed of ▲‘Sports Park,’ themed on Haetteumi Ssireumdan (wrestling team) and Ulsan Hyundai Football Club ▲‘Imagination Market,’ where local specialties such as Seosaeng pears and dolmiyeok (stone seaweed) are bought and sold ▲‘Amusement Park,’ featuring characters based on the Bangudae petroglyph animals ▲‘Festival,’ expressing liveliness, art, and culture ▲‘East Sea,’ symbolizing Haepalang-gil trail and Haenam and haenyeo (female divers) of Pyeongdong village.

Through the exhibition, a new image of Ganjeolgot as "the place where the sun stays 365 days" is established, providing richer attractions for sunrise tourists and adding the eco-friendly meaning of Junk Art to the bright solar energy of Ganjeolgot, the place where the sun rises.

County Governor Lee Soon-geol said, "I hope that by adding a new element called Junk Art to Ganjeolgot, a representative sunrise spot in Korea, Ganjeolgot will firmly establish itself as a nationwide tourist attraction," and added, "I wish that Ganjeolgot Imagination Space becomes another representative landmark of Ulju-gun and an important catalyst to advance Ulju tourism to the next level."
