A public official who was booked on charges of assaulting a woman he had been seeing and making unwanted contacts was handed over to the prosecution.
On the 15th, Changwon Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam announced that it had sent 50-year-old Mr. A, a former public official affiliated with the Gyeongnam Office of Education, to the prosecution without detention at the end of last November on charges including excessive approach behavior (stalking).
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of visiting Ms. B, a woman in her 30s living in an officetel in Seongsan-gu, Changwon City, which he had arranged, without permission and contacting her dozens of times from September 9 to 11.
He is also accused of not complying with Ms. B’s request to get off while they were traveling together in a car.
Ms. B reportedly filed a report claiming that after meeting Mr. A at a pub and continuing their meetings, she was subjected to assault and threats.
Mr. A, who worked in the secretary office of the superintendent of the provincial office of education, was dismissed by the personnel committee held in October.
During the police investigation, he consistently denied the charges.
The police judged that the related charges were valid based on the injury diagnosis submitted by Ms. B and her statements, and handed Mr. A over to the prosecution.
