'Lee Seon-gyun Drug Case' Entertainment Venue Manager Requests Closed Trial... Court Denies

Actor Lee Seon-gyun (48, male) was involved in a drug case, and the key figure, the manager of a nightlife establishment, requested the court to hold a closed trial, but the request was denied.

The manager of the nightlife establishment, Ms. A (29, female), who was arrested and indicted on charges of psychotropic substances and marijuana under the Narcotics Control Act, was represented by her lawyer at the first trial held on the 15th under the presiding of Judge Hyun Sun-hye of the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 10. The lawyer stated, "She admits all the charges and agrees with the evidence." The lawyer also requested, "Please conduct the trial in private," but the court expressed its intention to hold a public trial in principle.

Ms. A's lawyer also requested, "There is an additional case under police investigation, so if indicted later, please consolidate it with the drug case." However, the presiding judge responded, "Since the additional case has not yet been transferred, it is difficult to make a definitive statement," and added, "We will decide after reviewing the situation later."

Ms. A, who appeared in court wearing civilian clothes instead of a prison uniform, briefly answered "Yes" in a low voice when the judge asked during the admission of facts, "Is your occupation a nightlife establishment worker?" Ms. A's next trial is scheduled to be held at the Incheon District Court on March 6 next year.

Ms. A was arrested and indicted on charges of using methamphetamine or marijuana three times together with former broadcaster and composer Jung Da-eun (31, female) at her home in Seoul from March 23 to August 19 this year.

Having six prior convictions related to drug use, she is also suspected of delivering drugs received from a plastic surgeon she knew to Lee. Another suspect, Jung, who has already been arrested in a separate drug case, was additionally transferred to the prosecution at the end of last month on charges of using drugs or buying and selling marijuana together with Ms. A.
