Seoul Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung), which is promoting the distribution project of portable turbidity meters, announced on the 15th that it will distribute 520 units of 'portable turbidity meters' to apartments and community service centers within the district this month.
The portable turbidity meter, a product from a domestic startup, can measure water quality in real-time within 10 seconds using a dedicated measuring device and a mobile phone app, compared to the previous method which took about 20 days.
For apartment complexes with mandatory management of 150 households or more within the district, 3 to 5 units will be distributed according to the number of households. The management office will use them to check the water quality of common areas such as water tanks, and also utilize them for water quality management in facilities like daycare centers and senior centers within the complex. Residents will also be able to borrow the devices for a certain period to check the water quality of tap water and water purifiers at home.
The devices will also be distributed to each community service center, allowing residents in low-rise residential areas, old houses, and others who wish to use them to borrow the product for up to one week. The district will monitor the measured data to use it as reference for related policies and will strive to manage the water quality used by residents based on this data.
