Installation of Four 'Con' Cranes at Shinhang Nam Pier Area in 2024
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) will install additional unmanned enforcement cameras in 2024 to prevent major traffic accidents on Shinhangnam-ro at Busan Port New Port.
BPA plans to install a total of four fixed unmanned enforcement cameras at two locations with high accident risk (▲ Intersection in front of the gas station at Shinhang South 'Con' Pier ▲ Intersection at the entrance of Shinhang 5th Pier) to encourage safe driving among drivers.
The first section, the intersection in front of the gas station, will be prioritized for installation early next year, and the second section near Shinhang 5th Pier will be completed in the second half of next year in line with the relocation work of the traffic island in front of the intersection. The speed limit will be managed at 60 km/h at all locations.
Busan Port New Port has a high volume of large cargo trucks, making it particularly necessary to manage safety carefully due to the risk of major traffic accidents caused by speeding and signal violations.
The unmanned enforcement cameras to be installed this time will be transferred to the jurisdictional local government, Gangseo District Office, in the form of a donation, and the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency will lease them free of charge to use for traffic violation enforcement such as signal violations and speeding.
Lee Sang-kwon, Head of Construction at BPA, said, “We will strive to prevent damage caused by major traffic accidents within Busan New Port by reinforcing safety facilities such as installing enforcement cameras.”
