HL Mando announced on the 15th that it has unveiled the autonomous parking robot 'Parkie' and will begin pilot valet parking operations in Pangyo starting April next year.
HL Mando's 'Parkie' is a parking robot equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving technology. It recognizes surrounding obstacles, driving paths, tires, license plates, and independently determines the distance between wheels and the vehicle's center of gravity to park itself. For this reason, Parkie is called a 'valet robot.'
Parkie is 9cm tall and crawls close to the ground. Since the robot goes under the vehicle to carry the chassis, it has the advantage of not requiring separate infrastructure facilities. No additional equipment such as steel frames, rails, or chains is needed. Therefore, using Parkie can achieve about a 20% cost reduction compared to mechanical parking facilities. The annual payment amount in the domestic parking market reaches 15 trillion won. HL Mando expects Parkie to improve parking space efficiency and contribute to creating added value.
HL Mando received the Best of Innovation Award at CES 2024 for Parkie. The Best of Innovation Award is an honor given to only about the top 1% of over 3,000 entries, with only 36 products selected. HL Mando was recognized not only for advanced robotics technology but also for space creation and full autonomous driving technology.
On the 14th, visiting Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Moon Beom-gyu, who attended the Advanced Robotics Industry Strategy Meeting, also praised the development achievements of HL Mando's robotics division and the CES Best of Innovation Award win.
