Seoul Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 15th that more than 60 people, including the reconstruction association, construction stakeholders, relevant district office departments, and external experts, gathered on the 14th for a comprehensive countermeasure meeting to ensure the timely completion of the Dunchon Jugong Apartment Housing Reconstruction Maintenance Project (complex name: Olympic Park Foreon).

Dunchon Jugong is the largest-scale reconstruction project in the country, consisting of 12,032 households in buildings ranging from three basement floors to 35 floors above ground. The completion was originally scheduled for January 2025, but the association and the construction consortium are discussing advancing the completion date to mid-November next year. Once completed, 40,000 to 50,000 residents will move in.

At the comprehensive countermeasure meeting, briefings on the progress of apartment and infrastructure construction, current issues, and problems were shared. External experts emphasized the necessity for the association to take the lead in organically integrating all construction processes of the apartment and infrastructure works through a thorough review. They requested that all stakeholders accurately recognize issues related to completion and collaborate to establish a cooperative system.

The Director of Urban Management of Gangdong-gu, who attended the meeting, stated that the district office would actively serve as a liaison for consultations with Seoul city and other related organizations. Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, who presided over the entire comprehensive countermeasure meeting, said, "We will unite our efforts through close communication and cooperation to ensure successful completion and move-in next year."

The Dunchon Jugong reconstruction project experienced an unprecedented construction halt crisis for about six months last year due to a conflict over increased construction costs between the association and the construction consortium. The district office formed a TF team to normalize the project, which is still in operation. Recently, confusion among local residents and concerns about infringement on learning rights have arisen because detailed utilization plans for the newly established school site within the reconstruction complex have not yet been decided.
