Visual effects (VFX) and content production company Dexter Studio announced on the 15th that it worked on the VFX for the Netflix series 'Yu Yu Hakusho.' The series is based on a comics original, produced by Japan's leading video content company ROBOT, and was released on Netflix on the 14th.
In addition to Dexter Studio, Scanline VFX, which handled numerous Hollywood blockbusters such as the movies 'Avengers,' 'Aquaman,' 'Black Panther,' and 'Transformers,' and Digital Frontier, known for the movie 'Death Note' and the Netflix series 'Alice in Borderland,' also participated as VFX studios.
A spokesperson from Dexter Studio's PR team said, "Due to the genre's characteristics, the series features vivid colors and a high proportion of VFX, leading to the involvement of many talented artists from around the world. In Korea, Dexter Studio took the lead as the main studio, showcasing video technology comparable to overseas companies."
They added, "Previously, we received praise for realistically depicting the seven hells of the afterlife in the 'Along with the Gods' film series. We smoothly handled this project with a similar understanding of the concept and various know-how."
Park Byung-joo, the supervisor in charge of the VFX work, explained, "There were many magical effects that stood out with their unique concepts," adding, "There was a spatiotemporal feature involving dimensional travel."
Dexter Studio achieved sales worth 5.5 billion KRW through securing the VFX contract for the Hollywood movie 'Knights of the Zodiac,' a joint production between the United States, Hungary, and Japan. The renowned British studio DNEG, responsible for the VFX of 'Interstellar,' 'Inception,' and 'Dune,' also participated.
