Creating the Urban Regeneration Central Commercial Area Connection Space into a Beer Pub
A Citizen Participation Cultural Experience Space
Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City in Gyeongnam, visited the site of the ‘Jinju Jinmaek Brewery Construction Project,’ which is being promoted as part of the Central Commercial District Revitalization Project within the Central District Urban Regeneration Project, to encourage the stakeholders and inspect the project site.
The ‘Jinju Jinmaek Brewery Construction Project’ is a project to create a beer pub, beer brewing facilities, and an archiving space for cultural events using the beer ‘Jinju Jinmaek,’ developed in 2021, to revitalize the depressed old downtown and traditional markets.
Mayor Jo Gyu-il is conducting an on-site inspection of the central commercial district's 'Jinju Jinmaek Brewery'.
The city purchased the building in 2022 and is currently carrying out remodeling work this year, aiming to operate the facility in the first half of next year. After completion, the Jinju Commercial District Revitalization Foundation will be entrusted to utilize the space as a cultural experience area for regional economic revitalization, including brewing experience classes, pop-up stores, and Jinju Jinmaek tour programs.
Mayor Jo said, “For traditional markets to change and develop, young customers must be attracted to make the area vibrant,” adding, “I hope it will become a representative nighttime tourism attraction in Jinju, frequently visited by the MZ generation, in connection with the nearby Nongae Market Olppam Night Market.”
