Under the Main Theme of 'Recent Trends and Challenges in Prosecutorial Investigations for Human Rights Protection'
A joint academic seminar was held at the International Seminar Room of the Human Rights Center Main Building at Gyeongnam National University in collaboration with the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office Masan Branch.
The seminar, held on the 13th, was themed "Recent Trends and Issues in Prosecutorial Investigations for Human Rights Protection," where experts from academia and practice gathered to discuss recent issues related to human rights protection and prosecutorial investigations.
Gyeongnam National University and Changwon District Prosecutors' Office Masan Branch held a joint academic seminar.
Before the main presentations, Park Daebeom, head of the Masan Branch, said, "I am very pleased to be able to hold the second academic seminar this year following last year," adding, "I hope this seminar will be a good opportunity for prosecutors, who protect the free democratic basic order and the human rights of the people, to study and research."
Following this, Park Jaeyoon, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Gyeongnam National University, expressed gratitude, saying, "I appreciate the efforts of the branch chief and prosecutors who work hard to protect human rights. I hope today's seminar will be a good occasion to combine practice and theory."
The seminar proceeded with a total of three topics. For the first topic, Professor Lee Wonsang of Chosun University presented "A Study on the Revision of Investigation Rules and the Expansion of Supplementary Investigations by the Prosecutors" regarding recent prosecutorial investigative authority. This was followed by discussions from Prosecutor Woo Kyungjin of the Masan Branch and Professor Ha Taein of the Department of Police Science.
Next, Professor Ji Eunseok of Jeonbuk National University presented on "The Relevance of Electronic Information Search and Seizure and the Exclusion of Illegally Collected Evidence," focusing on the collection of evidence from electronic devices including mobile phones. The discussion was led by Prosecutor Woo Heejun of the Masan Branch and Professor Park Jaepyeong of Chungbuk National University.
Finally, Professor Ahn Jeongbin of Gyeongnam National University presented on "Legal Issues Related to the Establishment of Criminal Liability for Medical Negligence Resulting in Injury," focusing on medical accidents. The discussion included Prosecutor Park Bokyung of the Masan Branch and Professor Ryu Seokjun of Yeongsan University.
Meanwhile, attendees of the seminar included Park Daebeom, head of the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office Masan Branch; Lee Sangmok, Chief Prosecutor of the Criminal Division 1; Prosecutors Kim Daeyang, Woo Kyungjin, Woo Heejun, and Park Bokyung. From Gyeongnam National University, Vice President for Academic Affairs Park Jaeyoon, Dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration Kim Jinhyuk, Director of the Human Rights Center Heo Sooncheol, Professors Ha Taein and Kim Dowoo of the Department of Police Science, and Professor Ahn Jeongbin of the Department of Law attended. Additionally, over 30 participants including Professor Lee Wonsang of Chosun University, Professor Ji Eunseok of Jeonbuk National University, Professor Park Jaepyeong of Chungbuk National University, Professor Ryu Seokjun of Yeongsan University, as well as experts from academia and investigative practitioners, were present.
