Former Representative Song Eats 'Jjajangmyeon' Before Practical Review
"5,000 Won Jjajangmyeon... Customers Cheered Me On"
Jung Yura Fiercely Criticizes, "Where Should I Start Cursing?"

On the 13th, former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil, who had an arrest warrant requested, posted a photo of himself eating jajangmyeon at a Chinese restaurant ahead of his arrest warrant hearing. The substantive hearing for Song's arrest warrant will be held on the 18th at 10 a.m., presided over by Judge Yoo Chang-hoon of the Seoul Central District Court. Jung Yoo-ra, daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil), criticized Song on social media regarding the photo he posted.

On the 13th, Song posted on his SNS, "An arrest warrant has been requested. I will prepare well for the substantive hearing with my lawyers," along with a photo of himself eating jajangmyeon at a Chinese restaurant in Yongsan. In the photo, Song is mixing the jajangmyeon, while his pet dog Sisi is looking at its owner eating the noodles.

Song said, "I ate jajangmyeon that cost 5,000 won. The owner absolutely did not want to take money," adding, "I only accepted the kindness and paid for the meal. The customers also cheered me on."

He also added, "Sisi is focused on the jajangmyeon that dad will leave behind." Song's pet dog Sisi is a Chow Chow, a representative dog breed of China, and has been raised since 2017.

In response, Jung posted on her SNS the same day, "Where should I start cursing?" and openly targeted Song by saying, "Did he bring a dog to the restaurant? Did he try to feed the dog jajangmyeon from the restaurant's bowl? Did he try to feed jajangmyeon to the dog?"

She continued, "Salt is bad for dogs, and onions are also harmful. One of the components of onions destroys dogs' red blood cells, causing anemia and even death," adding, "He should think more carefully while raising the dog. He only says 'Dad' but is trying to feed poison."

In fact, one of the components of onions, 'N-propyl disulfide,' attaches to the molecules of dogs' red blood cells, interfering with oxygen transport and destroying red blood cells, causing anemia and, in severe cases, death. However, it has not been confirmed whether Song actually fed jajangmyeon to the dog or requested the jajangmyeon to be prepared without onions.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Jae-hoon) has requested an arrest warrant for Song on charges of violating the Political Parties Act and Political Funds Act, as well as bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes. Song is suspected of being involved in distributing 66.5 million won ahead of the party leadership election in May 2021.

The prosecution believes that Song received 50 million won from businessman Kim, who was identified as a "sponsor," and 10 million won from independent lawmaker Lee Sung-man, and together with former Korea Audit Association Chairman Kang Rae-gu (currently incarcerated), distributed cash envelopes to regional headquarters heads and incumbent lawmakers. Regarding the incumbent lawmakers, the warrant states that 20 envelopes containing 3 million won each were distributed on April 27-28, 2021, through independent lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok (currently incarcerated).

Song is also accused of receiving illegal political funds amounting to 763 million won through the external support organization "Peace and Livelihood Research Institute" (Meoksa-yeon) from January 2020 to December 2021. The prosecution regards 40 million won of this as a bribe received from former Yeosu Chamber of Commerce Chairman Park Yong-ha in exchange for resolving a petition related to the expansion of a local incineration facility.

Song's side stated regarding the arrest warrant request, "There are parts that are factually incorrect and misunderstandings of the law," and added, "We expect the warrant to be dismissed to protect the defendant's right to defense."
