Goryeong-gun Wins Excellence Award in Public-Private Cooperation and Resource Linkage from Ministry of Health and Welfare

Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, received the ‘Excellence Award’ in the Public-Private Cooperation and Resource Linkage category of the 2023 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, targeting basic local governments nationwide.

The Public-Private Cooperation and Resource Linkage category evaluates the operation and support of local social security councils, establishment of public-private cooperation systems, discovery and linkage of welfare resources, and the formation and operation of honorary social welfare officers. Twelve regions were selected, and the excellence award prize money is 20 million KRW.


Goryeong-gun built a welfare community under the slogan “Neighbors closer than relatives,” through cooperation between the county and eup/myeon local social security councils, public-private cooperation projects, and council revitalization projects. Integrated case managers were assigned to eup and myeon to provide customized welfare services to households facing complex crises.


Additionally, public and private sectors cooperated to identify households in crisis and appointed honorary social welfare officers to establish a detailed human safety net that closely monitors neighbors’ difficulties. They also enacted ordinances to prevent solitary deaths and actively worked to discover welfare blind spots.


In particular, Goryeong-gun took the lead in protecting vulnerable groups by promoting projects such as the ‘Together Gathered Happiness Fund’ joint fundraising campaign.


County Governor Lee Nam-cheol stated, “We will continue to actively identify households in crisis that need care through public-private cooperation and realize welfare based on trust by finding what administration can do first and accompanying neighbors in difficulty until the end.”
