On the 14th, the National Tax Service (NTS) disclosed personal information of 7,966 high-amount and habitual tax delinquents, 41 non-compliant donation-receiving organizations, and 31 tax evaders. The list was finalized after providing an opportunity for explanation over six months since March and obtaining approval from the National Tax Information Committee.
High-amount and habitual tax delinquents are those who have unpaid national taxes exceeding 200 million KRW for more than one year from the date the tax became due. According to the NTS, Park Yoo-chun has unpaid taxes amounting to 409 million KRW, including capital gains tax. Park Jun-gyu has unpaid taxes totaling 334 million KRW, including comprehensive income tax.
The highest individual tax delinquency is 302.9 billion KRW (Lee Hak-gyun, 43 years old), and the highest corporate tax delinquency is 37.5 billion KRW (Rotation Co., Ltd., service industry). Compared to last year, the number of newly disclosed individuals increased by 1,026, and the total disclosed delinquent amount rose by 711.7 billion KRW.
Non-compliant donation-receiving organizations are those that issued false donation receipts or were subject to tax reassessment due to failure to comply with inheritance and gift tax laws.
Tax evaders are individuals who have been convicted of evading national taxes of 200 million KRW or more through fraud or other illegal acts. Choi Wan-gyu, a drama writer known for works such as Iris and Okjung-hwa, evaded taxes amounting to 1.163 billion KRW by falsely reporting unpaid wages to assistant writers as expenses.
The detailed information of the disclosed high-amount and habitual tax delinquents, non-compliant donation-receiving organizations, and tax evaders?including names, business names (corporate names), ages, occupations, addresses, delinquent amounts, and reassessed tax amounts (evaded tax amounts)?can be checked on the NTS website.
An NTS official stated, "Going forward, the National Tax Service will continue to disclose the names of those who violate tax laws to promote a culture of sincere tax payment and to uphold a fair tax administration based on law and principles."
