Busan Enters Top 100 Cities for the First Time... A Great Achievement Following 'Happy City' and 'Smart City'
According to Resonance Consultancy on the 14th, Busan ranked 67th among 270 major cities worldwide for the first time.
Resonance Consultancy referred to Busan as the "Miami of Korea," highlighting its low poverty rate, high social media (SNS) hashtag (#) ratio, the world's 4th largest container port, and high urban prosperity in business and leisure. The firm also showed great interest in "Oceanix Busan," the world's first offshore smart city.
Previously, Busan was ranked 6th among Asian happy cities by the UK economic analysis firm Economist Intelligence Unit and was selected as Korea's No. 1 and 15th globally in the Global Smart City Index (SCI) by the global consulting firm Z/Yen. The city explained that this latest ranking is an achievement following these, proving Busan's competitiveness as a global hub city worldwide.
Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, stated, "Following being named the 'most livable city in the world' and the 'smartest city in the world,' Busan has now been selected as one of the world's top 100 cities desired by entrepreneurs, tourists, and locals alike," adding, "We will continue efforts to become a global hub city attracting attention both domestically and internationally."
