During the Resident Registration Fact-Finding Period, Welfare Information Provided to All Residents through the 'Bangbanggotgot Door Knob Project'
Local Community-Based Smart Welfare Centers Established in Gangil and Sangil Areas with Low Welfare Center Accessibility
Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced on the 14th that it has been selected as an excellent local government for three consecutive years in the nationwide regional welfare project evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in the category of ‘Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services.’
The ‘Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services’ category is evaluated based on 12 indicators across five areas: ▲establishment of welfare work systems ▲excellent cases in discovering and managing crisis households ▲discovery of blind spots and performance of visiting health and welfare services. This year, Gangdong-gu was recognized for its efforts in proactive administration to preemptively identify welfare blind spots and establish a field-centered welfare delivery system.
In particular, this award is even more meaningful as it marks the third consecutive year of recognition for excellence since being acknowledged as an outstanding local government in the ‘Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services’ category in 2021.
The district has made various efforts to proactively identify and support welfare recipients, including ▲strengthening home visits and service linkage for welfare recipients ▲enhancing regional welfare through public-private cooperation ▲establishing a system to discover blind spots through welfare communities ▲holding regular case meetings and creating common work manuals for public-private cooperation at the neighborhood level ▲operating an emergency welfare call center for one-stop welfare counseling ▲strengthening care for vulnerable groups through the Our Neighborhood Senior Care Group.
Especially, during the resident registration verification period from August to October, the district operated the ‘Bangbanggotgot Door Knob Project,’ attaching welfare information notices to every household so that residents in need of consultation could visit the neighborhood community center at any time.
Additionally, in the Gangil and Sangil areas where access to welfare centers is limited, the district established the community-based smart welfare center, ‘Gangildong Smart Welfare Center,’ enabling many residents to conveniently enjoy welfare service benefits.
Lee Su-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “We are strengthening publicity through public-private cooperation and promoting various welfare projects to ensure that no resident misses out on support due to lack of knowledge about welfare systems. Moving forward, we will do our best to alleviate the difficulties of residents in need through sincere and proactive welfare administration.”
