Kia announced on the 14th that it will showcase five Purpose Built Vehicles (PBVs) for the first time at the 2024 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2024) held in January next year.
This marks the company's first participation in CES in five years since 2019. Under the theme "Prepared Kia Shows Mobility for All," Kia plans to share the current direction of its PBV initiatives. The company stated that it has redefined PBV from its original meaning (Purpose Built Vehicle) to "Platform Beyond Vehicle," proposing new business models and lifestyles as the core concept.
The PBVs unveiled for the first time during the event include a total of five concept cars: three mid-sized PBV concept cars, one large PBV concept car, and one small PBV concept car. Additionally, Kia will introduce the Easy Swap technology, which allows vehicles originally used as taxis to be converted into delivery-only vehicles depending on their purpose. Visitors will also experience Dynamic Hybrid technology, which enables the assembly of various body sizes to support small-batch, multi-product production tailored to customer demands.
More detailed information will be revealed at the Kia Media Day event held at 3 p.m. local time on January 8 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
