Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will sequentially carry out repair and reinforcement work on 32 bridges over tributaries in Bundang-gu starting from March next year.
The repair and reinforcement work will be conducted in a way that minimizes inconvenience to citizens by implementing temporary traffic restrictions without full closures.
Earlier, Seongnam City conducted a detailed safety inspection over four months starting in May on 32 bridges crossing five tributaries in Bundang-gu.
As a result of the inspection on the bridge exteriors and structural stability, 3 bridges received a B grade (Good), 25 received a C grade (Fair), and 4 received a D grade (Poor).
Based on the safety review of the pedestrian sections, Yatap 7 Bridge will have its pedestrian section removed and reinstalled, and 7 bridges including Chorimgyo, Naejunggyo, Dangugyo, Dongmakcheon 1 Bridge, Yatap 8 Bridge, Yatap 9 Bridge, and Seodanggyo will have parts of their pedestrian sections removed to ensure safety.
Once the ongoing detailed design service for repair and reinforcement is completed, detailed repair plans such as pavement, crack repair, and painting will be prepared and construction will begin.
Upon completion of the repair work, the safety grades of the bridges will be upgraded.
Seongnam City has secured a project budget of 25.438 billion KRW for next year to expedite the project.
A Seongnam City official stated, "We will do our best to ensure citizen safety and convenience through prompt repair and reinforcement."
