Gyeonggi Province Character 'Bonggong-i' Emoticons Free for 30 Days Gyeonggi Province Government Character Bonggong-i

Gyeonggi Province is producing and distributing for free 16 types of animated emoticons featuring the provincial mascot ‘Bonggong-i’.

Gyeonggi Province announced that Bonggong-i emoticons will be distributed for free starting at 2 p.m. on the 14th to those who newly add the Gyeonggi Province channel on KakaoTalk. Existing subscribers can download the emoticons by blocking the channel and then adding it again. The emoticons will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to a total of 60,000 people and can be used for 30 days after downloading.

Lee Won-il, Director of Public Relations Planning at Gyeonggi Province, said, "This year, Bonggong-i received a lot of attention and love, which led us to prepare this event," and emphasized, "We will do our best to present many events using Bonggong-i in 2024 as well."

Bonggong-i’s name was created by vertically arranging the consonants of the core values of the 8th elected administration, ‘Change’ and ‘Opportunity’: ‘bieup (ㅂ) + hieut (ㅎ)’ and ‘giyeok (ㄱ) + hieut (ㅎ)’.

It also contains the dictionary meaning of 봉공 (奉公), which means serving in public office and working hard for the country and society. It is also the theme of the sixth article of 봉공 (奉公) in the third volume of Mokminsimseo (牧民心書) by Jeong Yak-yong, a practical scholar of the late Joseon Dynasty.
