President Yoon Attends Korea-Netherlands Business Forum
Emphasizes Semiconductor, Carbon-Free Energy, and Logistics Cooperation
Signs 19 MOUs and Contracts in Advanced Industries and Agriculture
On the occasion of President Yoon Suk-yeol's state visit to the Netherlands, companies and institutions from both countries signed a total of 19 contracts and MOUs (Memoranda of Understanding). They reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in various fields such as advanced industries, carbon-neutral energy, logistics, and agriculture. President Yoon stated, "We will also support cooperation in the new nuclear power plant projects in the Netherlands."
In the afternoon, President Yoon attended the 'Korea-Netherlands Business Forum' held in downtown Amsterdam, where he encouraged business leaders who contributed to building bilateral cooperation and outlined future directions for collaboration.

At the forum, Korean attendees included Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics; Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group; Hwang Ju-ho, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power; and Koo Ja-yeol, Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association. From the Netherlands, participants included Peter Wennink, CEO of ASML; Martijn Dielissen, CSO of NXP; and Ingrid Thijssen, Chairperson of VNO-NCW (Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers), among over 200 businesspeople from both countries.
At the event, President Yoon noted, "The Netherlands is the first country where Korea established a trade office in Europe and a joint overseas logistics center," and highly praised the active economic cooperation between the two countries in various sectors such as semiconductors, automobiles, clean energy, and logistics.
In particular, President Yoon referred to his visit to ASML the previous day, emphasizing, "Korean and Dutch companies have established a joint R&D center in Korea, graduate students are learning cutting-edge technologies together, and governments have agreed to open semiconductor dialogue channels. This semiconductor cooperation between the two countries has developed into a 'semiconductor alliance' encompassing government, industry, and academia."
He also stated, "There is great potential for cooperation between the two countries in carbon-neutral energy fields such as nuclear power, hydrogen, and offshore wind to achieve carbon neutrality and energy security," adding, "We will actively support bilateral cooperation in the Netherlands' new nuclear power plant projects." President Yoon also expressed expectations for continued cooperation between the ports of Rotterdam and Busan, both global logistics hubs.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power signed an agreement with EZK (Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy) to conduct a 'technical feasibility study for the introduction of new nuclear power plants.' Lotte Fine Chemical and OCI-Global (chemical product manufacturers) agreed on 'cooperation related to clean ammonia supply and ammonia storage infrastructure.' Korea Nuclear Fuel signed an MOU with NUCLIC (nuclear innovation consulting company) for 'sharing regulatory information and cooperation to obtain permits for the construction of new nuclear power plants in the Netherlands.'
Additionally, Esol Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with ISTEQ B.V. (light source development company) for 'joint development and commercialization of next-generation EUV light sources.' G-Plus Life Sciences Co., Ltd. signed a technology transfer and joint research cooperation agreement with Bayer AG (pharmaceutical and biotechnology company) for 'high-content vitamin D tomato technology.' The Presidential Office stated, "We will actively support efforts to ensure these MOUs lead to concrete results."
