Samyook University, in alliance with four universities in Nowon-gu, Seoul?including Kwangwoon University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, and Seoul Women’s University?hosted the '2023 University Financial Support Project Performance Forum.'
The forum, held on the afternoon of the 12th at Paraspara Seoul in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, was attended by Kim Hyun-hee, Vice President of Samyook University; Kim Jong-heon, President of Kwangwoon University; Seung Hyun-woo, President of Seoul Women’s University; Kim Seong-hwan, Acting President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology; and the directors of the university financial support projects from the four universities.
Under the theme "Beyond Innovation to Sharing," this forum was organized for the four universities in the Nowon area to promote mutual growth and coexistence through sharing and cooperation. The purpose was to disseminate the achievements of the university financial support projects both internally and externally and to provide a platform for communication among members.
The event was divided into two sessions. The first session featured presentations from the universities, including ▲ KW learner-centered creative and convergence curriculum (Professor Im Yeon-gyu, Kwangwoon University Institute for Educational Innovation) ▲ Digitization of university textbooks through app book system development (Professor Park Wan-seong, Samyook University Smith College) ▲ Case study on the operation of educational innovation academic systems for talent cultivation (Professor Shin Seon-ae, Seoul National University of Science and Technology Office of Educational Innovation) ▲ Collective impact-based social innovation education model ? public-private-academic cooperation urban innovation school (Professor Yoon Su-jin, Seoul Women’s University SI Education Center). Each university shared outstanding achievements from their university financial support projects and explored joint cooperation strategies.
The second session consisted of a thematic discussion followed by networking time. Participants exchanged information and opinions on directions for collaboration and joint efforts based on the four cases shared in the previous session.
In his opening remarks, Kim Il-mok, President of Samyook University, stated, "In the midst of a declining school-age population and the upheaval of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, university education is facing an irreversible era of great transformation. It demands new innovation and sharing across all areas of education, including shared curricula, shared educational content, and infrastructure, beyond the physical boundaries of offline campuses." He added, "Above all, we face the urgent challenge and mission of advancing and surviving together through innovative thinking, sharing, cooperation, and collaboration while preserving the essence of education."
Meanwhile, Samyook University has been striving to nurture SU-MVP+ talents equipped with creative convergence and holistic competencies through the first cycle of the University Innovation Support Project, supported by the Ministry of Education from 2019 to 2021. Since last year, under the second cycle of the University Innovation Support Project, the university has established a new strategy titled "Cultivating SU-GLORY Future Talents through Creative Convergence Educational Innovation" and is fostering "creative convergence innovation leaders."
