Ministry of Land, KDI Apply for Private Investment Project Eligibility Review

The government has confirmed that it is reviewing the feasibility of constructing the so-called 'Semiconductor Expressway' connecting Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, Yongin, and Anseong.
On the 13th, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Yongin City, the Ministry recently applied for a private investment project eligibility review of the 'Semiconductor Expressway' to the Korea Development Institute (KDI) Joint Investment Management Center.

This road covers approximately 45 km, connecting Yanggam in Hwaseong City, Namsa and Wonsam in Yongin, and Iljuk in Anseong. Earlier in May, the private company D Construction submitted a project proposal to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Yongin City explained that the results of the Ministry's private investment eligibility review are expected to be announced as early as July next year.
This road is characterized by connecting major semiconductor hubs in the southern metropolitan area. In Yongin, three locations were designated as national advanced industry specialized complexes by the government last July: ▲ Yongin Semiconductor Cluster in the Wonsam area of Cheoin-gu ▲ Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex in the Idong and Namsa-eup areas ▲ Samsung Electronics Giheung Campus.
Dongshin General Industrial Complex in Bogae-myeon, Anseong, is designated as a specialized complex for semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment.
Yanggam-myeon in Hwaseong is adjacent to the Pyeongtaek-Hwaseong Expressway. If the expressway construction becomes a reality, it will establish a genuine 'Semiconductor Expressway' network encompassing Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong campuses.

In this regard, a Yongin City official explained, "This expressway route is an essential transportation network to complete Yongin City's vision of an 'L-shaped semiconductor belt.'"
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, said, "We welcome the prompt eligibility review in response to the city's request," adding, "The opening of the Semiconductor Expressway will greatly benefit not only Yongin but also the Hwaseong and Anseong regions."
