Raised 3 Billion KRW Investment from Cheetah Mobile
Expecting Expansion to Global Services
Be-Robotics, a subsidiary of Woowa Brothers operating Baedal Minjok, announced on the 13th that it has secured an investment of 3 billion KRW from the global mobile app developer Cheetah Mobile.
Be-Robotics is a service robot company that began full-scale serving robot rental services at Baedal Minjok in 2019. Since spinning off in February this year, it has supplied over 2,200 serving robots to 1,600 stores and provides serving robot integration solutions.
The flagship product, Baemin Robot S model, offers not only serving functions but also table order integration services and robot control programs, earning high satisfaction from users. In September, it won the Grand Prize in the serving robot category at the '2023 Brand of the Year Awards,' voted by 370,000 consumers.
Recently, efforts have been accelerated to localize serving robots and expand the number of units distributed. To this end, Be-Robotics plans to develop its own robots and is expanding serving robot distribution channels, which were mainly focused on food service businesses, to screen golf centers, PC rooms, billiard halls, logistics centers, and more.
Cheetah Mobile plans to launch practical and effective artificial intelligence (AI) and robot solutions in the market by broadly collaborating with Be-Robotics through its subsidiary OrionStar as part of this investment.
Kim Min-su, CEO of Be-Robotics, said, "This investment provides a foundation for Baemin Robot to actively pursue domestic production and global expansion." He added, "Through collaboration with OrionStar, a subsidiary of Cheetah Mobile, we will jointly pioneer the global market, lead the global serving robot market, and strive to raise industry standards to a higher level."
