Seoul City, Police, Fire Department, and Others Link CCTV Video Information
Gangdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 13th that it has completed the construction of the ‘Smart Seoul Safety Net’ (integrated platform) and the ‘Intelligent Crowd Density Monitoring System’ through this year’s CCTV integrated control system advancement project.
Currently, the Gangdong-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center operates 3,227 CCTVs, monitoring them 24 hours a day to prevent crimes and safety accidents and to respond quickly in case of emergencies.
To realize a safer Gangdong, the district invested a total of 450 million KRW and has been promoting the CCTV integrated control system advancement project since March this year. As a result, the Smart Seoul Safety Net and the Intelligent Crowd Density Monitoring System were established, which is expected to secure the golden time for rapid response in emergencies.
The Smart Seoul Safety Net is a system that links the Gangdong-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center with related organizations such as Seoul City, police, and fire departments to quickly grasp and respond to on-site situations by utilizing CCTV footage around the incident area in case of emergencies such as crimes, fires, and safety accidents. This system provides services such as 112 and 119 dispatch and on-site video support, disaster situation response video support, and rapid apprehension support for electronic anklet violators, assisting related agencies in emergency response.
The Intelligent Crowd Density Monitoring System analyzes crowd density (number of people per unit area) through 80 CCTVs installed around areas with high foot traffic such as Cheonho Station, Rodeo Street, and Jjukkumi Alley within the district. When a crowd density situation occurs, control personnel immediately notify related agencies such as the police and fire departments to facilitate rapid response.
Han Won-mo, Director of the Disaster Safety Division, stated, “With the establishment of these two systems, rapid response in emergencies will be possible,” and added, “We plan to do our best to realize a safer Gangdong by making full use of advanced technology.”
