On the 10th (local time), local media such as Bao Moi in Vietnam reported that on the 7th, three cleaning women lost consciousness and were transported to a hospital after eating cookies left by guests while cleaning a house in the Tao Dien area of Ho Chi Minh City.

The incident occurred in a 200㎡ house, known to be mainly rented by foreigners for parties and events. The homeowner told the police, "Koreans rented the house the day before to hold a party."

After the Koreans finished their party and left, the homeowner hired four cleaners to clean the house. There were leftover foods such as cookies and cakes on the table inside the house, and it is known that three of the four cleaners shared and ate this food while cleaning.

A few minutes later, these three experienced blurred consciousness and lost physical and mental control. One of them even lost the ability to communicate, while the other two showed symptoms such as delirium and dizziness. The one cleaner who did not eat the food contacted rescue workers and urgently transferred them to a nearby hospital.

Tests for drug reactions at the hospital showed that all three tested positive for marijuana-related substances.

The case was then handed over to the local police. Vietnamese police collected dozens of unused balloons, food, and beverage samples from the scene as evidence and are investigating. The police stated that they plan to expand the investigation into the incident.

Vietnam is a country that strictly deals with drug crimes. If caught smuggling drugs, one faces imprisonment of two years or more. In particular, possession or smuggling of more than 600g of heroin or over 2.5kg of methamphetamine can result in the death penalty. Manufacturing or distributing 100g of heroin or more than 300g of other illegal drugs also carries the same punishment.

Last year, more than 100 people were sentenced to death in Vietnam for drug crimes. Foreigners are no exception. Last month, two Koreans, including Kim Mo (63), a former National Intelligence Service agent, were sentenced to death in Vietnam for distributing about 216kg of drugs.
