UNIST and Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital Collaborate to Develop Digital Healthcare Rehabilitation Medical Technology

Collaboration on Rehabilitation Digital Healthcare and Medical Platform Development

Partnership with Clinical Institutions: Sejong Hospital and Medical AI Agreement

UNIST has entered the field of digital healthcare to develop rehabilitation medical technologies.

UNIST (President Yong-Hoon Lee) and Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of digital healthcare-based rehabilitation medical technologies and joint research.

On the 12th, the two institutions held a signing ceremony at UNIST and agreed to jointly conduct various technology developments and demonstration joint research in the rehabilitation field. Joint research on the development of a rehabilitation medical platform service centered on the Functional Research Center of Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital will also be conducted.

Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, under the social welfare corporation Angels Haven, was established in 1998 and has grown into one of the top rehabilitation specialized hospitals in Korea, introducing clinical rehabilitation robots domestically for the first time rather than experimental ones. It is a rehabilitation medical institution designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the only public children's rehabilitation hospital in the metropolitan area of Seoul.

Through this agreement, UNIST is expected to secure opportunities for demonstration of diagnostic and preventive technologies of the UNIST Smart Healthcare Research Center, rehabilitation assistive devices such as rehabilitation robots, and AI-based digital healthcare services.

The signing ceremony was attended by Jun-Ho Jo, CEO of Angels Haven; Ji-Sun Lee, Director of Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital; In-Pyo Jeon, Director of the Functional Research Center; Yong-Hoon Lee, President of UNIST; Jae-Yong Lee, Vice President; and Sung-Chul Bae, Dean of the Graduate School of Medical Science.

Recently, UNIST has been strengthening cooperation with medical institutions and bio-ventures in the digital healthcare field. On the 6th, the Graduate School of Medical Science at UNIST signed agreements for research and development of diagnosis and treatment technologies for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases with Sejong Hospital, a cardiovascular and cerebrovascular specialized hospital; Medical AI, which possesses artificial intelligence heart failure diagnostic technology; and the Christian Medical College of Eswatini in Africa.
